What better way for students to gain experience right away. Various schools let their students run their own restaurants, shops, or brands. The restaurants of Zadkine and Albeda are great places to enjoy dinner for example.
Now Vak College Hillegersberg and Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam also offer working experiences. Vak College Hillegersberg operates a brand new shop concept called the VCH STORE at Bergse Dorpsstraat 54. It’s an innovative way to realise the school’s mission: ‘Discovery, action and movement’. Because how much fun and motivating is it when you learn something at school and can put it into practice in a real shop?
When you stroll down the lively shopping street and enter the store, you will be welcomed by third and fourth- students. Locals can visit the beautifully refurbished shop for having all kinds of printed matters, (small) furniture, and accessories like bags and pencil cases designed and made by students. The VCH STORE will also be a place for theme evenings, events, and workshops.
The origin of VCH STORE comes from the question: “How can we challenge and guide the students in developing and exploring their talents, skills and social involvement?” The answer is quite simple. By allowing them, under supervision, to participate in society. As the Bergse Dorpsstraat, a renowned shopping street, is around the corner they quickly found an empty space near Frietboutique and Richards & Resmann. VCH STORE was born.
