Altstadt

Altstadt Rotterdam combines a canteen and a theater in Delfshaven

Altstadt Rotterdam will be a unique place in historic Delfshaven. In a former garage at the Aelbrechtskolk the canteen is already open. Soon the theatre auditorium will provide space for an (inter)national programming.

The focus will be on innovative productions from the ‘flat-floor circuit’. The programming will be an important addition to the current offerings in the city. The new company Altstad will be making own productions to perform in their own theater, but they will also go on tour. In the back the Toneel Vakschool (School of Drama) will occupy a space to rehearse. Artists of other disciplines can also use this room to develop and show their work.

The initiators are Delano van den Berg, Marijke de Kerf, and Philippe Lemaire. All three have all been active as theatre-makers and cultural entrepreneurs for about six years. With Altstadt Rotterdam, they continue their ambition to make a solid artistic contribution to the city.
