The Maritime Museum offers a festive summer

The Maritime Museum kicks off the summer with a Ship’s Dog Parade. Subsequently, the museum will be open every day until 21 August. Besides contemporary exhibitions, there are summer activities for young and old.

The Dogparade 010 takes place July 9, it is a cheerful parade of dogs dressed in maritime attire and their owners along historic ships and cranes in the Maritiem Museum Harbour. The cutest duo win the Dogparade 010 award. There is a Ketelbinkie photo shoot with Máxima photographer Robin Utrecht and Jet Sol will present the parade. All participating dogs get a treat and those who do not have their own dog can have their picture taken with Dobber.

Historic maritime cruises on the Maas

During the summer visitors can take part in activities or step aboard historical ships for a round trip. Sailors can get a breath of fresh air during a canal cruise and admire Rotterdam’s highlights, such as the S.S. Rotterdam, the Euromast, Hotel New York and the Erasmus Bridge, from the water. As part of the 150th anniversary of the Nieuwe Waterweg canal, the museum ships will also go on tour to Maassluis where there are activities in the historic town center.

Children can make giant bells or test their agility on an obstacle course. With a treasure hunt in hand, kids go in search of the animals and letters on board a steamboat and there are demonstrations and workshops in the smithy.
