Koen Taselaar for Susan Bijl and Dufarge. By Jan Bijl

Susan Bijl, Koen Taselaar and Dufarge create bags and decks

Susan Bijl is an internationally renowned designer working and living in Rotterdam. While her bags and other products are sold all over the world, she always keeps an eye out for local talent. The newest collaboration is with artist Koen Taselaar. His design is featured on The New Shopping Bag, The New Pouch, The New Trash Bag, and skate decks by Dufarge.

The launch of the collection is on Friday, June 10, from 5 PM. At the Susan Bijl store on the Mauritsweg.  Across the street, Dufarge will host a best-trick contest.

Koen designed three prints and went all the way by combining them in one bag. The game of Exquisite Corpse inspired him. In this game, each participant writes or draws on a sheet of paper, folds it to conceal their contribution, and then passes it to the next. This playfulness perfectly aligns with the overall motto of the year: Play. Koen’s drawings are elaborate and vibrant and have equally interesting names like Kiki Bouba, Terrazzo Taselaar, and Endless Smoking Croissant.

Furthermore, the collection offers three skate decks depicting Koen’s prints. There was a long-standing desire to design a deck with Rotterdam-based skateboard company Dufarge. As a skateboarder and a close Dufarge friend, Koen was the perfect match to finally make it happen. In the past Dufarge worked already worked with other creatives from Rotterdam like 75b, Kamp Horst, Sneep and Het Poolcafé.

Sales of the products start on Friday, June 10th at 10 AM. The collection will be available on SUSANBIJL.COM, SUSAN BIJL stores and selected retailers.
