Chef Valentino Jacob brings a new unique pastry concept to the Markthal. He serves savoury Caribbean pastries as well as sweet ones filled with cream and toppings of different delicacies at Pastry d’Oro (Unit 76).
He got his inspiration from growing up in the Caribbean food culture. When Valentino was young, his parents were already very active in the catering business and had several Caribbean restaurants. Furthermore they also sold from a foodtruck. This is where his passion for entrepreneurship and Caribbean cuisine originated.
The pasties are made according to the family recipe. The puff pastry comes in different flavours such as: Cheese & Jalapeño, Beef, Chicken, Tuna, Salted fish and Vegetables (Veggie). Among the specially developed sweet items are the Shinin Blue with blueberry cream and delicious blueberries as topping and the Merry D’Oro with a golden taste of almond nuts combined with delicious flavoured cream.
