Home Improvement with Gamma

Home improvement gets easier with new Gamma and Praxis

During the pandemic, a lot of people went to do chores around the house. They frequented several home improvement retailers in the city. Two new stores have opened. Gamma moved from Koperslagerstraat to Noorderhelling. Praxis opened its 11th City Store at Nieuwe Binnenweg 190.

After the success of the other two locations in Rotterdam, residents of Rotterdam-West can now also visit a Praxis City Store for basic DIY supplies and handy services such as a workshop and paint mixing machine. The team includes experienced colleagues from the surrounding stores and is ready to receive the customers and to help and advise them in carrying out their DIY jobs.

Corine Duchenne-Reijnierse, Managing Director Praxis: “We have evaluated and further developed the Praxis City concept in recent years. The City stores are highly valued by consumers, especially by students or starters who live in the city, for example. We certainly have the ambition to open more Cities and to help the Makers in the city centers with their DIY jobs.”

Gamma combined with parking

To make room for the planned development of Feyenoord City a parking garage and a Gamma have moved. Project developer Dunavast asked the Rotterdam-based architect Wim de Bruijn to design a building integrating both. At the bottom, GAMMA now offers an updated DIY concept for the handyman. On top of the home improvement store, a magnificent, largely covered triple-deck parking garage with 500 parking spaces has been created.

This modern mobility hub furthermore offers 18 charging stations, occupancy detection, camera surveillance, and toilets. And a direct connection to public transport that takes you to Maashaven or the city center in no time. Moreover, De Kuip stadium and the entertainment district De Veranda are within walking distance.

The garage is fully equipped with LED lighting, which is more sustainable and environmentally friendly. A ribbon of LED lights has been placed around the building, making it highly recognisable at night. During special events, when the Dutch national team plays an international match in De Kuip for example, the lighting can be changed into appropriate colours.
