Het Industriegebouw shows its art and design as HI Modern

Het Industriegebouw is an architectual icon, created by the legendary architects Hugh Maaskant and Willem van Tijen. In a state of deterioration, Luuk and Esther Schotsman bought the building in 2015. These investors transformed it back into the original purpose: a multi-company building. Now everybody can visit HI Modern and see the collection of art and design inside.

From May 14 the private art and design collection becomes public. From that date, it’s possible to book a guided tour from 3 PM to 4 PM, every Saturday. A passionate guide takes you behind the scenes of Het Industriegebouw. On five floors there are artworks and design objects in the most surprising places. From hyperlocal artists and international tastemakers. On show are works by Robert Zandvliet, Sabine Marcelis, Jan van der Ploeg, Sam Drukker Iwan Smit and Ramsey Nasr, among others.

Luuk and Esther Schotsman have single-handedly put this collection together. Out of love and in order to create a nice work environment for themselves, their team, and the other tenants in the building. Luuk: “More and more people wanted to see the interior of the Industriegebouw with their own eyes. So we organized tours during, for example, Architecture Day. These were very well attended. Often we were completely full.” Hence the idea for tours at HI Modern was born.

Tickets cost €7.50, including a cup of filter coffee from By Jarmusch.
