Groot Handelsgebouw auctions colourful ping pong art for Ukraine

The Groot Handelsgebouw (GHG) will be auctioning off 20 unique ping-pong tables, hand-painted by up-and-coming artists for Dutch Design Week. The proceeds of the auction will go to Giro555 for humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

The colourful ping-pong tables were painted during a live event at GHG last year as part of the Collision Project, a platform of artists with different visions and backgrounds who use historic buildings as their canvas. GHG, home to a growing art and design community, organised the event to highlight the role of spontaneous collisions in the creative process, with spaces such as GHG serving as a backdrop for the back and forth ping-ponging of creative ideas.

The online auction will open digitally on Monday 16 May at 11 AM via auction platform www.onlinegallery.art. Bidding starts at € 350. The auction closes on Friday May 20 at 6 PM. During a live event on the roof of GHG, while enjoying a snack, drink and music by a DJ. At the end of the day, the winning bids and the amount raised will be announced.
