Ticket sales for the excursions of the 44th edition of the World Port Days have started! On 3, 4 and 5 September, young and old will get to know the opportunities and possibilities of the port of Rotterdam through a wide range of excursions, walking and cycling tours, round trips, and other activities. Tickets are available here.
The World Port Days (Wereldhavendagen) usually attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, making it the largest annual maritime event in the Netherlands. The visitors will flock to the quays for demonstrations and fireworks at the Erasmus Bridge. But because of the covid-19 measures the program only consists of an online part and various, small-scale physical parts and excursions. The 44th edition is scheduled for 3, 4, and 5 September and the theme is ‘Port Of Opportunities’, giving young and old the chance to discover the possibilities of the port of Rotterdam.
World Port Days means boats
There are several excursions. You can book a helicopter ride or you can bike or walk. Of course, there are several boat trips. Wine restaurant Vineum and Salonboot De Maze present an exclusive package. During a three-hour cruise, a generous selection of fruits de mer with champagne is served. Meanwhile, the classic boat sails past interesting places. On the way back to the Veerhaven homemade friandises and a cup of coffee complement the trip.
De Maze has been the management vessel of the municipal port for more than thirty years. In 2003 the ship was professionally restored and adapted to current requirements. Since this year, the ship has been owned by David Biersteker, a catering entrepreneur with a passion for sailing.
You can also get on board the Spido or cruise with Plastic Whale.
World Port Days from home
In addition to the extensive program of excursions and tours, there is also an online program. You can find this programming here. The online harbor show on Saturday 4 September at 7 PM will be a spectacular, interactive program with a presentation by Richard Groenendijk. If you want to actively participate and win great prizes, register via the website from now on. You can also view the story of the Port of Rotterdam on tour from the Port of Rotterdam Authority from the comfort of your home on 3, 4 or 5 September.
