Shirma Rouse performs with Sinfonia

Sinfonia Maritime Concert at Kop van Zuid

Sinfonia Rotterdam is a contemporary chamber orchestra that lives of the energy and diversity of this city. The orchestra distinguishes itself by its active way of making music.

During performances, Sinfonia Rotterdam, led by the passionate chief conductor Conrad van Alphen, knows how to involve the audience in the musical experience. An intimate, personal atmosphere is created during the concerts, which makes the audience feel involved with the orchestra.

The first weekend of September Sinfonia Rotterdam offers free open-air concerts at the Kop van Zuid, next to Hotel New York. Like last year the Sinfonia Maritime Concert will close with fireworks and the sounds of this classical masterpiece: Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks. In the build-up, the orchestra performs works by Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart. Woven through will be appearances of Singer Shirma Rouse (she will sing four swinging songs in beautiful arrangements by our house composer Sylvia Maessen), Ud player Mehmet Polat, Soprano Ana Balestra and Poet Anne Vegter.

The reservations for the evening concert at 20:30 are already fully booked. So there will be an extra concert on Friday 3 September. The program of this concert will be slightly shorter than that of the evening performance. Without Handels Music for the Royal Fireworks and the fireworks. Nevertheless, a pretty nice event to attend. Get your tickets here.

Or get tickets to the Coffee concert the next day. Saturday, September 4 around 11 AM the orchestra gives a concert once again, except that the orchestra will not play Music for the Royal Fireworks by Handel.

Sinfonia Rotterdam for the family
