Jewel.Rotterdam let designers shine during Object

Rotterdam-based jewelry designers show their collections during the first edition of Jewel.Rotterdam. The showcase is a new section of OBJECT Rotterdam.Β

During Rotterdam Art Week 2022, their collections can be seen at OBJECT. Almost 30 local designers show creations in very different styles and materials. Some exhibit internationally in museums and galleries, others work in the lee. While some have a shop in Rotterdam like Charlotte Wooning.

In addition, there is an attractive lecture program on May 19 and 21 at the PHOEBUS gallery in Rotterdam, which will focus on men’s jewelry. Suzanne van Leeuwen, curator and restorer of jewelry at the Rijksmuseum, answers the question: Why do men wear jewelry? And Gary Symor, a fashion designer and teacher, tells about traditional jewelry worn by Surinamese men.

Opposite the gallery lies the Van Lanschot Bank at Westersingel. Every evening during Jewel.Rotterdam, from May 19 to 22, a film by Luwi Clarinda will be projected. It’s a video of dancers from House of Urban Arts who perform, wearing the designers’ jewelry and choreographed by Indirah Tauwnaar.

In addition, the staff of restaurant Renilde in Depot Boijmans van Beuningen will wear jewelry by the designers.
