Devastator opens store and atelier at Van Oldenbarneveltstraat

Arij den Otter and Erik Bosman are the founders of the bespoke one-off label Devastator. They decided to take their sustainable initiative to the next level with a shop and atelier on the Van Oldenbarneveltstraat.

Arij (well known in the city because he was the manager at Margreeth Olsthoorn) and Erik (costume designer at Theater Rotterdam) prefer to use high-quality leftover stock materials. They create sturdy, clean, and ample silhouettes. Each garment is perfectly cut, luxuriously, and thoughtfully executed. Recently Amy Egbers and other contestants were wearing garments by Devastator during the televised music program Aria. Redefining vintage is another aspect of their work, thus giving clothes relevance to both past and future.

The designers will produce the high-end pieces in the shop to involve people more closely in craftsmanship and carry several like-minded high-end labels. The artisans want to steer clear of fashion conventions, like mass-production and seasonal pressure. Instead, they focus on craftsmanship and fabrication at a slower pace.

That’s why they present a selection of garments and accessories from various designers who complement the philosophy of Devastator: eco-conscious, chic, and genderless. ”It’s all about inviting sophistication back into our lives.”

In the store\atelier (designed by Arij en Erik themselves) you will find labels like AG Nauta Couture, Jouez Les Enfants, Mad et Len, Adieu Paris Shoes, Toogood, The Viridi-anne, Joe Chia, Werkstatt Munchen, and Nude: Masahiko Maruyama.
