Conflux is a new festival exploring multisensory encounters

Klankvorm is a Rotterdam-based platform for the realisation and presentation of experimental audiovisual art. With Conflux, a new festival exploring multisensory encounters, they present urgent ideas, contemporary art and experimental music. This first edition takes place at various locations throughout Rotterdam from June 2 to 5.

Conflux presents a a program of audio visual performances, public art interventions, multimedia commissions, experimental club nights and talks reflecting on the festival theme ‘Exit Human’. The Conflux 2022 theme ‘Exit Human’ originated from the various questions that arise when thinking of humans and their relationship with the constant transformation within technology, ecology, society and space. During the conference thinkers, artists and performers reflect on this.

There is programming at WORM, UBIK, Arminius, V2_, Plein 1940, Cinerama and V11. Klara Lewis and Nik Colk Void explore the outer edges of the space occupied within their respective solo projects. Guitars, synths, euro rack modular systems, voice, sampling and outboard processing are presented uncompromisingly. They present their new album Top accompanied by the live visuals of Pedro Maia at WORM June 3.

Animistic Beliefs are hailing from Rotterdam. Linh Luu and Marvin Lalihatu are inventing a new, creole musical language. The duo repurpose forms from techno and IDM to create exhilarating hybrids, applying a fresh perspective that is both deeply personal and political. Together with media artist Jeisson Drenth they present CACHE/SPIRIT Live. An audiovisual show with both its frenetic and contemplative character, combines Animistic Beliefs other-worldly sounds with a unique visual language of techno-spirituality. It’s on at Arminius June 4.

Exhibitions and Club Nights at Conflux

The exhibitions show artworks and installations that emerge at the intersection between science, art and technology. In some of the works, technology is being used to give us a dark glance on how our future could evolve. Among the artists are Marnix de Nijs, Mariska de Groot and the Macular Collective.

During club nights there are sets and performances by Pessimist, Umwelt, Unit Moebius, Marsman, Slick Chick, Ruwedata and Acidic Male. These club nights are all at WORM.
