WORM and The Performance Bar

Sensual, tactile and packed full of shabby-chic, WORM, situated on the corner of Witte de Withstraat and Boomgaardsstraat, lives up to its reputation for counter-cultural activity. Among other things, it’s a place for people in search of community. An archipelago of different spaces, WORM boasts a free lending library of counter-cultural resources and hosts films, workshops, sound studios, a stage, theatre and The Performance Bar. Everyone working here is a practising artist of some sort, hence the range of events on offer every night. From gigs and DJs, to talks on capitalism vs. the underground, there is something for everyone. It remains justifiably popular among punks, hippies, old-schoolers, the LGBTQ+ community and anarchists for its celebration of social resistance and people in search of a free space.

As for The Performance Bar, there’s no other way to describe it than as a melting pot for mavericks and non-conformists. Owners Daniel and Florian share a passion for audacious performance art, so every weekend The Performance Bar offers innovative and outrageous entertainment for its wild and beautiful crowd. Naughty, neurotic and often naked, it’s a haven for those seeking freedom of expression and oddity. It’s cosy and raw – and in keeping to its promise of a safe space, absolutely no photography is allowed!
