The Rotterdam-based footwear brand VICO was founded in 2011. It was born from the idea to create Dressed Sneakers. It just revealed its new collection, with a new model called: Borgo. This model has a padded foam on the heel tab for extra comfort and can be worn in a sportive, casual or smart way.
VICO is inspired by traveling. The brand name is derived from ‘vicus’, Latin for ‘in the street’ or ‘in the neighborhood’. VICO is also a village on the island of Corsica where founder Kevin van Wijk spent his best childhood holidays.
The sneakers are made in Europe. The design and development take place in both (Rotterdam) and Italy (Montebelluna), the shoes are handmade in Portugal. Using European quality leathers only. The footbeds consist of recycled material and all packaging is also made out of recycled material.
To emphasise the connection with Rotterdam, Vico likes to work with prominent locals. There have been collaborations with artist Dillenburg, Philip Powel, The Bellhop, Het Nieuwe Instituut, Statencafé and recently Lex Pott
