The Square

Four choreographic minds come together to create ‘The Square’, a new full-length dance production under the direction of Scapino Ballet’s Ed Wubbe. Dancemakers and artists from different backgrounds and various working styles collaborate to produce a diverse and disruptive production. Like a cinematic editor, Ed Wubbe edits and blends the various choreographies together to make a single work with seamless transitions. ‘The Square’ is part of a Scapino initiative to provide more opportunities to young dancers and choreographers. The prominent Rotterdam dance company is sure that dance can reach a larger audience in the Netherlands and, as a result, has commissioned 60 additional performances in the country every year. Not only will this help build a dance audience in medium-sized cities, but it will also help create more chances for young dancers and dancemakers.

The Square, from 26 March until 6 June at various theatres throughout the Netherlands.
