Plastic Whale

Plastic Whale rids the waters of Rotterdam

Plastic Whale was founded in Amsterdam in 2010. It’s a social enterprise with a mission: to rid the waters of the growing global problem called plastic waste.

It also wants to inspire others to take action, and create an ever-growing movement of individuals, businesses and government agencies that, through its main activities are fighting for plastic-free land and sea. The organisation now owns a fleet of 13 boats – made from the recycled plastic they have fished up. These are being used to remove even more plastic waste from local canals.

Plastic Whale also turns trash into furniture. Designed by LAMA Concept, a leading agency specialising in sustainable design, and produced by  Vepa in the Netherlands.

It’s possible to book a trip to go plastic fishing on the Rotte for example. This way everybody can get involved and make a substantial, positive impact on the environment.
