Oase is a place with a mission: planet first. It was a temporary physical sustainable mini-mall in the middle of the city centre at the end of 2019. Now there is a new spot alongside the Maas in a former wharf. This place will be a sustainable-social breeding ground and event space.
This industrial warehouse will also house various other companies and institutions, including RUSH world (Rotterdam Urban Sports Hub) and the MBO Theatre School. These new Halls are managed by PlaceBased, the organisation that set up successful breeding grounds before, including the Keilewerf 1 & 2 and the Kroon. The new creative breeding ground is less than 10 minutes by bike from the centre of Rotterdam.
Crowdfunding an OASE
OASE will occupy the indoor event space that will be used for cultural programming. In the former canteen, they will operate a restaurant. During MOMO Fabrique people already got the opportunity to get to know the place as there were concerts, yoga sessions, and showcases by RUSH world and the MBO Theatre School. There will also be 15 office workplaces, a gift shop with products from local makers and designers, and a large giveaway closet and XXL plant shelter. The outdoor space will be used as a terrace, herb garden, fire pit, organic plant nursery and playground.
On Saturday 16 October (12-6 PM) OASE will organise a botanical market. With around 20 sellers of plants, flowers, vintage, and art. Expect Amazing Plant House, Studio Wildemijn, Ietsmetplantjes.nl, Marly Bonte, Voorplanters, Wildsnoeier and Droominee. On that day there is also the launch of a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to make OASE an inspiring place for the next 8 years.
OASE is an initaive by Groenemorgen. Owners Berend van Zanten and Raymond Landegent are aiming for a future green city. They do this through projects, campaigns and events like a vegan food festival for example. At OASE everything will come together.
