O. Festival brings adventurous opera and more

O. is the new name for Operadagen Rotterdam since 2021. From Friday 20 to Sunday 29 May 2022, O. takes place at various locations in the city.

The international festival for opera, music, and theatre offers unique performances and exciting productions at surprising locations in Rotterdam. Expect ten days of performances and concerts, from works in progress to world premieres by young makers and more familiar names.  It focuses on adventurous, talented makers and cross-links with genres. From performance to electropop and from shanty to street culture.

After two postponed editions (due to Covid-19) O. returns this May. Artistic director Guy Coolen: “O. has proven to be very resilient: in both 2020 and 2021 we were forced to present smaller versions. But the drive remained and the audience did not abandon us. In May 2022 we will return to a grand ten-day festival, with opera in the broadest sense of the word. It will be an exciting festival full of world creations by (inter)national makers. Boundary-breaking, playful, with an open view on our society.”

The full program is ready at the end of March when sales of tickets will also start. Real fans can already buy a passe-partout of €179. They are for sale at this site.
