Slowly but surely tourists are coming back. Mostly Dutch or visitors from surrounding European countries. Before Covid-19 Rotterdam became more popular every year and entrepreneurs in the hospitality took notice. That’s why new hotels were being built and designed. That’s why despite the pandemic new hotels have opened like the Postillion in the WTC and a couple are on the brink of starting like a Mr Lewis on the Heemraadssingel and others will take a while like Morgan and Mees on the Mathenesserlaan, Motel One on the Hoogstraat and Motto by Hilton at the Botersloot.
The Witte de Withstraat was already crowded with bars and restaurants. But a couple of hotels have also opened their doors like FD Hotels and The Bellhop Hotel.
FD Hotels
FD Hotels is located in the famous Witte de Withstraat with cafés, bars and terraces and the hotel opened its doors last June. The owners have quite the experience as they are also the owners of a cleaning company specialised in hotel rooms.
H3 Hotels
Also on the Witte de Withstraat the new H3 Hotel can be found. It provides light and spacious rooms on 4 floors and a few rooms in the underground. All rooms have a heating, flat screen TV, comfotable beds and private facilities.
Bellhop Hotel
This is a design-boutique hotel with fifteen rooms. Inspired by a mixture of Scandinavian austerity and the Caribbean use of colour. A Kitchen & Bar is also part of Bellhop. On the menu is a tasty arrangement of dishes with an international touch. Enjoy an array of organic plant-based options for any meal of the day.
Bed, Bites & Business
Katendrecht has been thoroughly discovered. You might think. Deliplein has always been the bustling center of the peninsula with all it’s bars and restaurants. Since the Fenix warehouse has been transformed into a landmark with restaurants, the quay has also been claimed by lovers of wine, pinchos and beer.
But on the other corner of Fenix you can now find a nice small hotel. Bed, Bites & Business offers 7 luxury rooms. Some even have a private balcony, boasting a beautiful view on the Rijnhaven and Kop van Zuid.
Furthermore, BBB serves food all day and provides facilities for working.
Le Marin Hotels
Travelers who want to be pampered and those who are more adventurous both will feel at home at Le Marin Hotels near the city center. Le Marin Boutique Hotel with the accompanying Bar Bató offers high-end service in luxurious suites with spa-worthy bathrooms.
Le Petit Marin Boutique Hotel 300 meters down the road caters to the more independent traveler. This smaller hotel has a handy 24 hour self-check-in for example.
At Bar Bató all guests can mingle with neighbors and passers-by. This hang-out is open from breakfast to dinner and will also be a favorite among locals.
Soon coming up are some other new hotels. This is what we know about them.
Hotel Not Hotel
As the name suggests, Hotel Not Hotel offers more than just an overnight stay. In a large communal space, guests will find 36 objects which serve as rooms. The objects are designed by artists like the Rotterdam-based Arno Coenen. The hotel is located next to central Rotterdam and later will be expanded to 52 rooms. The Mexican restaurant and a cocktail bar are open from the start so locals can also be amazed by all works of art.
Hotel âme
Hotel âme is housed in a monumental building from 1867 with a beautiful architectural soul. By keeping most of the old elements, we created a place where past and present gracefully meet. Inspired by Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics – with natural materials and colors, bespoke furniture and attention to detail.
âme will also have a public cafe, the place to get coffee and pastries and the concept store offers a carefully curated and unique selection of interior and lifestyle items.
