John Scofield & Dave Holland Duo at Dutch Double Bass Festival

Guitarist John Scofield and bassist Dave Holland are both recognized as great jazz musicians. These longtime colleagues decided to perform as a duo. The artists will give a unique concert at the third Dutch Double Bass Festival in Theater Zuidplein.

The Festival is founded by James Oesi. As an artistic leader, his goal is to turn every music lover into a bass lover. The bass is indispensable to all music styles, which is why Dutch Double Bass Festival programs straight through different music styles. From Classical ensembles to Jazz and Funk groups. He already brought top international artists such as John Patitucci, Edicson Ruiz, Gray Karr and Richard Bona to previous editions.

Now Scofield and Holland bring their diverse musical backgrounds and infinite talents to the stage, each contributing original compositions to the set and putting their stamp on a selection of jazz standards as well. Those familiar with their individual artistry can expect nothing less than virtuosity, enjoyment, and depth.

Bassists from world, pop and classical music

All together  18 revolutionary bassists and their groups are on the program! American bass beast Ben Williams will be there with his band As are the Polish YouTube star Kinga Głyk and Podium Witteman trio Dominic Seldis, Sasha Witteveen and Mike Boddé.

Derrick Hodge performs with, among others, Anthony Hamilton, Robert Glasper and Kanye West. He will be performing exclusively with The Caureim Quartet and drummer Marcus Gilmore. The classical bassists of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra play with international soloist Božo Paradžik and Rotterdam-based trumpeter Eric Vloeimans.
