square '47 Pascale van Reijn

Square ’47 is open at Schouwburgplein

On the vibrant Schouwburgplein a new hotspot is now open. Square ’47 is named after the year of the opening of the central square in the heart of the city. A perfect place according to the initiators. To cater to the large crowd it is open daily from 9 AM to 1 AM.

This way Square ’47 is the perfect spot for a morning coffee, lunch, drinks, extensive dining or to grab a bite before or after a movie or concert. The kitchen of Square ’47 is open until midnight. It deliberately does not limit itself to one type of cuisine. The menu includes an extensive selection of international dishes to which chef Illy Vroomen and his brigade have given their own twist using premium quality ingredients. Expect fresh seafood, like indistinguishable court-bouillon poached lobster thermidor, sushi and sashimi, oysters (from Zeelandic creuses to Gillardeau), and fresh tataki.

Next to the food there is an extensive wine list. Guests can enjoy sparkling wines, rosé, red, and white wines, as well as dessert wines. The range surprises both the connoisseur and the casual drinker. With equal pleasure cocktails such as a Pornstar Martini, a gin and tonic, or a festive mocktail are served.

Roof terrace

Square ’47 consists of two floors. The top floor, including a roof terrace can be hired for a private lunch or dinner. The warm contemporary intrerior is courtesy of Woodfever Stands Interieur from Naaldwijk.

At the helm of Square ’47 are two experienced restaurateurs: Arnold van Strien and Alex Wolf. Arnold van Strien (36) gained experience in Breda. He says: ”I am a born entrepreneur. I am always looking for challenges and improvements.”

Alex Wolf (40) is known for Lust in Barendrecht. Wolf is known as a motivator, an entrepreneur with a big people’s heart. He doesn’t need the spotlight himself. He allows others that starring role.
