Domestica Rotterdam presents The drowned land of Doggerland

Domestica Rotterdam brings a lost prehistoric world in the North Sea to life at the former Schiedam Glass Factory.Β

Domestica Rotterdam is an ensemble formed in 1997 by musicians from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. The ensemble’s focus is in unusual repertoire and arrangements, concerts, chamber operas, and (educational) musical theatre. For The drowned land of Doggerland the musical ensemble they have created a musically visual performance about rising sea levels and the adaptability of humans. With existing compositions, a soundscape by William Bakker and sand art by Rosa van der Vijver.

The drowned land of Doggerland tells the story of the million to eight thousand years old tundra at the bottom of the North Sea. It was aΒ rich area, full of flora and fauna.Β And culture.Β Doggerland was a civilized world.Β But a world that knew challenges.Β Due to global warming, people had to adapt again and again to the changing living environment.Β Climate change is of all times.

The event is part of the celebration 150 years of Vooruit New Waterway. There are three performances. On Friday 23 September at 8 pm and Saturday 24 September at 4 pm and 8 pm. If you want to immerse yourself in the story of Doggerland, you can reserve tickets here.
