During the annual Dag van de Bouw (Construction Day) on Saturday, June 18 everyone can get behind the scenes of construction sites. Areas that are normally forbidden to the general public. In Rotterdam, there are several projects to visit.
Dozens of construction sites in the country open their doors on this day between 10 AM and 4 PM. Admission is free everywhere and there is a lot to experience for young and old. The annual Construction Day is the open day of the Dutch construction sector. It’s an excellent opportunity to see what is needed to build houses, roads, hospitals, stadiums and other buildings and infrastructure.
In Rotterdam you can visit Overhoeks and Havenkwartier. The construction site of the new highway A16 is also accessible during Dag van de Bouw. In total, about 150 interesting projects can be visited nationwide: new construction and renovation projects, but also civil engineering and much more. Visitors not only see how far the project has progressed, but also learn everything about how construction works. Of course, a lot of manual work is still done by real professionals. The construction also means a world of innovation. The most modern technologies and techniques are used.
During Dag van de Bouw additional activities are also organized at many locations, such as performances, building demos, treasure hunts and other activities for children.Β
