New at Metropolis Festival

The British band The Lathums build on the legacy of a number of illustrious predecessors such as The Smiths, The Beatles, Stone Roses, and The Ramones. American rappers Dre and Vonne form They Hate Change, they fuse numerous genres into a unique alternative sound. The Vices come from Groningen and bring a contrasting mix of britpop and surfrock. Fatdog from London has influences from Underworld, Little Big, and The Streets.

Tramhaus is the most talked-about live sensation from Rotterdam these days. Some describe them as the evil cousin of Pixies. Dragonfruit drops names like Canadian producer Kaytranada, J Dilla and Mahalia as touchstones.

The history of the festival

Ever since 1988 Metropolis Festival introduced a large audience to striking new artists. The exciting line-up of international artists who played there in the past includes The XX, The Black Keys, Twenty One Pilots, The xx, The Strokes, The Killers, Interpol, Primus, Smashing Pumpkins, The Prodigy, Wu-Tang Clan, The Offspring, Motorpsycho, The Roots, and Vince Staples.
