In the Rotterdam Makers District, Stadshaven Brouwerij has restored a 100-year-old fruit warehouse into a craft beer brewery. This independent brewery already offers tours, beer tastings, a gastropub, and now also a terrace.
It is carefully designed and built and is now completely ready to receive guests. It has room for 300 visitors. The large, central outdoor bar provides the guest with in-house brewed (special) beers. There is an extensive menu for every taste, whether you come for lunch, a quick bite or to dine long, eat vegan or go for a steak from the charcoal grill. On the terrace, you and your group of friends can also try the American cornhole game, a kind of pΓ©tanque without sand. Director Harm van Deuren says: “It was time to give the terrace the same allure as the brewery and gastropub. The location on the quay is perfect. It is an astonishingly large space, and the view over the water is amazing! The sunsets are spectacular.”
Spectacular opening of the terrace
The terrace will be opened on May 6. Between 4 PM and 5 PM, guests are welcomed with a (special) beer on the house. DJ Bootsy Paul will be spinning the best funk, disco and soul during the first three hours. During the evening, various other DJs and street performers will perform exciting acts. The closing act of the evening will be the HW Party Crew.
A sustainable Stadshaven Brouwerij
The Stadshaven Brewery has a size that only a few breweries in the Netherlands can match. 2 million litres of beer are brewed and bottled, canned or cask filled every year. This makes the Stadshaven Brewery the second-largest craft beer brewery in the Netherlands. They are constantly looking for new ways to contribute to the quality of life, circularity, sustainability and the social dynamics of the surrounding Merwe-Vierhavens area (M4H).
Sustainability is an important part of the menu. StadshavenΒ use the most modern techniques in the brewery that waste as little water and energy as possible. There are no less than 1,700 solar panels on the roof. The Stadshaven Brewery is also working together with Rainmaker, an innovative company in the field of water making, which will collect and purify the waste water so that it can be reused as brewing water. The residual waste from the brewing process, the brewers’ dregs, are also put to good use. It is donated to the cows of the famous Floating Farm, the world’s first floating dairy farm located less than 200 metres from the brewery. Because the cows eat the beer malt, they produce 2.5 litres more milk per day. The brewery then uses the milk again in the catering area to make cappuccinos, for example.
