History of Carhartt WIP

Carhartt was founded in 1889 in Michigan. It began manufacturing warm and robust clothing for workers in the construction industry like overalls, hoodies and rugged jackets. At a certain point in time skaters began wearing the original workwear and it also became popular in hiphop. That’s why Carhartt WIP (Work in progress) was founded, offering a more fashionable take on the original timeless items. Nowadays Carhartt WIP is regarded as a streetwear original offering strong clothing. It’s known for its collaborations with brands such as Nike, APC, Patta and Converse, and most recently with iconic Berlin skate brand Civilist.

Besides being a clothing label, WIP also supports artists, musicians and riders. Carhartt WIP is involved in European skateboarding and BMX from the beginning. The label does its part by supporting local events and funding the maintenance of major skateparks.

Carhartt WIP already has shops worldwide, including in Sydney, Tokyo, London, Milan, Amsterdam, Haarlem, The Hague and Antwerpen.
