Weelde is a creative free state where anything is possible. It’s located in the industrial Western part of town and is a destination for innovative art, culture, food, drinks, parties, and events. After a winter break, the doors will open with a packed opening weekend from Friday, April 1 to Sunday, April 3.
Every day, there will be an extensive program of live music, art, karaoke, food, drinks, and much more at Marconistraat 39. It will also be the kick-off for Weelde’s own Pizzabar Tutto and newly affiliated catering businesses such as The Rumah and Karma Kebab.
It all starts Friday, April 1 with performances by Son de Aqui, a Rotterdam band with Mexican roots, and dj’s Jeff Revolucion, Yoast, Ezri Jade and Dj Néna.
On Saturday, April 2, the Wild, Wilder, Weelde festival takes place. With all kinds of electronic music, including techno, breakbeat, psytrance and downtempo. The line-up includes more than 40 acts, including big names such as Byron Yeates, Bufiman, and DJ ISAbella. The latter is the co-founder of Marcias, an LGBTQ+ collective in Barcelona, and will be playing in Rotterdam for the first time. In each room, you will find a different host with their own decor, atmosphere, and theme. The Wild, Wilder, Weelde festival is co-organized by Bordello A Parigi, Operator, Klooiklup, No Friends, and Malafide Records, among others.
This event would initially take place on 31 December 2021 but has been moved to 2 April due to the COVID measures. But the New Year’s Eve concept will be retained. Including a countdown at midnight, champagne, a fire show, and other surprises. Tickets are available here.
The illustrious carnival duo Bart & Steffan host a big singalong part on Sunday, April 3. The entrance is free.
