Scapino Ballet Rotterdam presents Cathedral

From November 28 to December 1, 2024, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam will bring its celebrated production Cathedral: An Evening with Arvo Pärt to Theater Rotterdam. The music of Arvo Pärt will be performed live by Sinfonia Rotterdam. Following its run in Rotterdam, the production will embark on a tour.

Cathedral portrays a world dominated by digital technologies, where human connections are increasingly lost. Choreographer Marcos Morau and his team of artists create a retro-futuristic stage design featuring life-sized video projections. With the mystical music of Arvo Pärt as its heartbeat, Morau and the dancers explore what makes us human and examine our relationship with nature.

Premiering in 2019, Cathedral is one of Scapino’s most innovative productions. Marcos Morau, who previously created Pablo for Scapino in 2016, has collaborated with the company for many years. Cathedral is exclusively performed by Scapino and marks the first production under the company’s new artistic director, Nanine Linning.
