RUFUS WAINWRIGHT TONY HAUSER

Rufus Wainwright and Amsterdam Sinfonietta play Luxor Theater

Rufus Wainwright has established himself as one of the great male vocalists and songwriters of his generation. Together with Amsterdam Sinfonietta he offers a concert with some own songs, covers and classic works in the New Luxor Theater.

Musically Rufus has collaborated with artists including Elton John, David Byrne, Boy George, Joni Mitchell, Pet Shop Boys, and producer Mark Ronson. In addition to being a celebrated contemporary pop singer, Rufus Wainwright has made a name for himself in the classical world by composing two operas.

During the traditional New Year’s tour, the Amsterdam Sinfonietta is delighted to present the prince of chamber pop once again to Dutch audiences following their success in 2017. Now Rufus is back on stage with Amsterdam Sinfonietta for a new spectacular program. A 90-minute journey called Devils and Angels. With pieces and songs inspired by Love and Hate. In addition to songs by Rufus Wainwright such as Devils and Angels and Westside Waltz, they will play covers by Prince, Paul Simon, and Woodkid, among others. Classical pieces like Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde intertwine with pop songs.
