bike repair station Kongsi Rotterdam

Rotterdam has three Bike Repair Stations

Initiated by Kongsi three Bike Repair Stations have now been installed in the city. Cyclists can repair and maintain their bicycles for free on the pavement in front of social bike workshops Give A Bike on the Vierhavensstraat (M4H), Pluspunt Noord on the Noorderhavenkade (Blijdorp) and at the circular model city BlueCity.

The stations are part of a pilot project to investigate how these kinds of initiatives can contribute to the cycling climate in the city. The stations are an initiative of creative agency Kongsi, with support of the Rotterdamse Fietsalliantie and Rotterdam Circular. The Bike Repair Stations are vandal-proof and offer the most important tools to fix or maintain a bike like a high-quality hex spanner set, adjustable spanner, tyre lever, screwdriver and of course a good pump.

The stations are open 24/7 and are free of charge. Bikes can hang on bars to make it even easier to work on it. The QR codes lead to how-to videos. Furthermore, the people from Give A Bike and Pluspunt will be happy to help.

The bicycle is the easiest and healthiest way of transport. But maintaining and repairing a bicycle can be difficult and expensive. Also, not everyone has the space to store tools. That’s why Kongsi, a creative agency in Rotterdam with a focus on sustainability, developed the Bike Repair Stations.
