Banksy experience arrives in Rotterdam for the first time

This winter, Rotterdam will host a major international art experience centred around one of the most famous, and mysterious, artists of our time. House of Banksy – An Unauthorized Exhibition opens in Las Palmas from 23 January through 10 May 2026, marking the exhibition’s debut in the Netherlands.

Set inside the striking former warehouse on Wilhelminakade, the pop-up show unfolds across more than 1,500 square metres. Visitors step into an immersive environment showcasing over 150 works inspired by the anonymous British street artist. Expect a mix of large-scale murals, detailed prints, sculptural pieces and multimedia installations that reflect the sharp humour, political edge and social commentary Banksy is known for.

Though his identity remains unknown, Banksy’s visual language is instantly recognisable. His works, often appearing unexpectedly in public spaces, tackle themes like inequality, power, war and consumer culture. By bringing these pieces together in one curated setting, the exhibition offers insight into the scope and impact of his art, which normally lives fleetingly on city walls around the world.

The Rotterdam edition has been created by the producers behind the successful European touring exhibition The Mystery of Banksy. Their aim is to make the artist’s ideas accessible to a broad audience, using high-quality recreations on materials that echo the urban surfaces Banksy typically works on, such as concrete, wood and brick.

As with similar tributes shown internationally, this exhibition is not officially endorsed by the artist — a detail that aligns seamlessly with Banksy’s long-standing anti-establishment philosophy.

With its raw edge, strong visual culture and history of reinvention, Rotterdam provides a fitting backdrop for this bold and thought-provoking art experience.
