Pas de Deux

Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and pianist Michiel Borstlap present dance concert Pas de Deux

After a successful tour in 2016 and a nomination for the VSCD dance prize, Pas de Deux will re-enter the theaters from 8 February. Pas de Deux is a pure dance and music experience, a dance concert in which two worlds come together. The world of Michiel Borstlap is crystal clear, impressive because of its simplicity and harmony. The world of Wubbe is expressive, disruptive and dynamic. The combination and the confrontation between dance and music yields an intriguing performance, one moment light-hearted and serene, the other moment passionate and exciting. The live piano music by Michiel Borstlap is the motor for the dance, which needs no further story.

Michiel Borstlap is a successful Dutch pianist with concerts worldwide. After an impressive jazz career, he will be taking a new course with solo performances from 2010, closer to the minimal (jazz) music. In addition to his solo work, he also performs with Lavinia Meijer and Ludovico Einaudi, among others. In his adventurous productions Ed Wubbe knows how to merge music, dance and design into an overwhelming whole. Both have one thing in common. They create pure magic from the heart.

And for her role in Pas de Deux, dancer Jozefien Debaillie was nominated for the Swan, the Oscar equivalent of Dutch dance. Thus, it is clear to see that this tour is not to be missed!
