Celebrating freedom

Festival of Freedom

On 5 May, we celebrate freedom. In 1945, on 5 May, the Netherlands was liberated from the German occupation during the 2nd World War. Ever since, we take this day to reflect and be thankful for our freedom. We also show our support to the people for whom freedom is not a sure thing. The Festival of Freedom is organised in the Park at the Euromast. Every year, the Ambassadors of Freedom send a special, musical message about freedom throughout the country. The Royal Air Force supports the artists by flying helicopters from festival to festival.
