Cinekid is the biggest film and media festival for all super curious children between the ages of 3 and 14 and their parents and grandparents. Usually, the festival takes place in Amsterdam, but starting this year, Cinekid will be a national festival branching out to other locations like LantarenVenster.
From 16 to 24 October, children and the elderly can watch the best films and series, explore the MediaLab and get their hands dirty in various workshops. With almost forty locations throughout the country and online via Cinekid Play, the festival gets near everybody!
Captain Nova opens Cinekid
The worldβs biggest platform for childrenβs films and media, opens its 35th edition with the world premiere of Captain Nova. A modern and thrilling sci-fi film from director Maurice Trouwborst. This exciting sci-fi film begins in 2050. The earth is in such a terrible state that fighter-pilot Nova (Anniek Pheifer) goes back in time to 2024 to try and prevent an environmental disaster. But because of the effects of time travel, she looks like her 11-year-old self and no one takes her seriously. The one exception is Nas (Marouane Meftah), a teenager who helps her with her mission. Will the 11-year-old Nova (Kika van de Vijver), together with Nas, be able to save the world?
Cinekid seeks to amaze, entertain, and connect; and contribute to the development of children into independent, conscious and thoughtful world citizens. In order to reach this goal, Cinekid presents, produces, teaches and communicates with and about film and moving images in a language that children understand.
Cinekid is also the foremost international platform focused on the production of childrenβs films. With the aim of increasing the quantity and quality of productions and making connections within the industry. Cinekid Festival will take place from 13-31 October across the country.
