A cultural festival in the former Tropicana

Tropicana Fest is a cultural festival of art and music. It presents a curated selection of Rotterdam talent. The initiator of the festival is Rotterdam’s pop musician Guus Bok. When Talitha Holl, the cultural director of Rotterdam Kralingen-Crooswijk introduced him to Vladimir Radujkov, artist, curator and initiator of NEON Foundation, the two neighbors from Kralingen decided to create something extraordinary.

In the former tropical swimming pool Tropicana they present a large festival. The pool nowadays is a breeding ground for innovative companies and it also boasts a restaurant. During the Tropicana Fest on April 2 and 3, visitors can enjoy visual art and live acts from Rotterdam.

Ntjam Rosie, Trio Vamonos, Max Horák and DJ Franky Sticks, among others, will perform. Rotterdam singer Guus Bok will also give a concert with his 8-piece band and various guest artists. Rotterdam’s favourite puppeteer Wim Noordergraaf, known for his performances on the Beursplein, will be giving two fun performances. The Young Talent Orchestra of Rotterdam’s Hellendaal Music Institute will be giving a classical lunch concert.

Visual arts comes from Anuli Croon, Douwe Halbertsma, Michael Bom, Barbara Helmer, Jakob de Jonge and Ruud Goedhart, among others. They will be showing their work in an exhibition compiled by the NEON foundation. The theme is ‘URBANISMS’, and is about the tension between architectural creations, such as cities, and mankind.

Tickets are available now.
