Celebrating freedom

Keti Koti

On 1 July, the abolition of slavery is celebrated in the Netherlands and other countries. There are lots of activities linked to the Keti Koti month. In addition to an official commemoration at the slavery monument and festive celebrations in Wijkpark Het Oude Westen, there are also many educational activities being organised. Everything is geared towards learning more about our common history and making connections. Together we look back, we commemorate and celebrate the life we now share in the Netherlands. The first of July is all about celebrations, cultures, music, cheerfulness and good food. The programme and names of the performing artists will be revealed on the website.
