The Fatx Fox

The Fat Fox is a new modern gastropub

Faruk Dervis and Darryl Peijnenborgh, the duo behind restaurant The Iron Lady on Pannekoekstraat, will open a new restaurant. As they both have a passion for English pub culture they have created a modern gastropub in the Witte de With-area. The Fat Fox.

Coincidence brought the two gentlemen together. Faruk (46) started The Iron Lady restaurant in February 2020, and was able to close it down after four weeks. Due to corona, he also lost his business partner two years later, who no longer saw the point. Darryl (25), of South African origin and born in Walvis Bay (Namibia), has worked in the hospitality industry since he was 15. He cooked in starred establishments but had only one dream: his own business. This dream suddenly came within reach at The Iron Lady. As it turned out, they both had a love for English pub culture: cheerful and friendly places where you can often eat excellent food and where you can meet in an approachable way.

The Fat Fox offers a beautiful menu of great tasting ánd looking dishes to share. Vega, fish, and meat with, of course, a special place for excellent pub grub: classic but high-quality pub food. Upon entering, guests walk straight into the metre-high bar. There is an extensive cocktail (‘Foxtail’) menu, and fine beers from Stella Artois and Goose Island, among others. Furthermore, the bar holds over a hundred whiskeys.
