After one of the most ambitious urban redevelopment projects in the city center, Stadhuisplein is back—and better than ever. Fresher, more beautiful, and more versatile than before. The heart of Rotterdam has undergone the biggest transformation in its history and is now the city square where day and night come together. With an impressive new hospitality dynamic, renewed identities, and a solid foundation, the square is ready for the future.
The square is buzzing once more, offering space for connection, relaxation, and experience. Locals will find both familiarity and surprise, with four standout hospitality venues that together form the new soul of the square:
Beau, the brand-new all-day concept where you start with coffee, stay for lunch, and end up on the dance floor. An elegant, edgy place where day effortlessly transitions into night. Coconuts, the tropical-Rotterdam phenomenon, has undergone a complete makeover and treats guests to sun-drenched cocktails, lively evenings, and a refreshed menu full of South American flair. ’t Fust, long the go-to spot for sporty bon vivants, now presents a fresh new look and an even more immersive experience centered around sports, beer, and camaraderie. This is where you cheer together, beer in hand. Cornelis, the established icon of the square, once again proves its staying power with timeless hospitality, quality, and style. A pillar of class amid all the renewal.
“The energy is back—and stronger than ever. This reopening isn’t a facelift, it’s a city story rewritten, a transformation of real magnitude,” says proud entrepreneur Marcel Maan, who runs the hospitality venues above.
The redesign includes not only a new visual landscape with spacious terraces, a completely updated look, and atmospheric lighting, but also marks a symbolic fresh start for the city itself. Young or old, local or visitor: the new Stadhuisplein is here for everyone.
“With this transformation, Rotterdam hasn’t just invested in bricks, but above all in people. Hospitality, culture, and connection are once again at the center,” says a representative of Struisenburg Horeca.
About the project
The renewal of Stadhuisplein is the result of close collaboration between the Municipality of Rotterdam, local entrepreneurs, and creative designers Woodfever and TooManyAgencies. The goal: to create a future-proof square that reflects the city in all its diversity.
