From 22 to 29 September, Rotterdam celebrates freedom of gender, sexual orientation and cultural diversity. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the wide range of colourful programmes in the fields of art and culture, youth and family, talk shows and debates, entertainment and, of course, several great parties. The theme of this sixth edition is HOUSE OF COLOURS: a symbol of our colourful and diverse city – an inclusive society. At House of Colours, the doors are wide open for everyone.

Brands often maintain exclusivity through inflated pricing. Rotterdam-based Ascent is challenging this model, aiming to transform how perfumes are made, used and sold. The company has revolutionised packaging with a reusable aerospace-grade aluminium case, designed to be refilled with any of their fragrances. These scents are vegan, cruelty-free and have an organic base. With up to 40% perfume oil, the fragrances are long-lasting. Ascent is committed to inclusivity, striving to make premium perfumes accessible to all.

Miniworld is a unique experience. The Dutch landscape and the modern and historic architecture of the city of Rotterdam are presented in miniature. In the attraction a day lasts 24 minutes. Before you know it, night will fall and thousands of tiny lights will light up the darkness. As day breaks, the 27,000 residents awake as their world comes to life. Trains speed to their destinations and lorries bring their loads to and from Europe’s largest miniature port.

This restaurant at the vibrant Witte de Withstraat might just be the most colourful place in the city. The two-story establishment is fully decorated with lanterns in green, yellow, red and blue, fancy patterned tiles and embellished plates. Couscous with grilled kebab, salmon or lamb adorn the menu fi lled with Middle Eastern dishes. The Bizar Bazar offers an assortment of grilled goodies and is a must-try, but their extensive menu offers dishes big and small for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
