Growing up as a fat girl, Lotte van Eijk had an endless mission to find trendy and appropriate clothing. From an early age, she designed her own clothing and after she graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy (Photography, class of 2018) she decided to found Lovaeij. An inclusive fashion brand where all shapes and sizes are represented.
To make her dream of a fashion brand come through she worked together with people who believed in her vision. She wanted a brand that represents how she sees the world; Fluid, inclusive, bold, sexy, daring and simply connected to what she stands for. Lotte wants everyone to feel at home within the brand and her clothing. It’s more than a fashion house. It’s a home. Where everyone is welcome regardless of size, colour or gender identity.
Hot Fat Girl Summer
Her third and most recent collection is all about Hot Fat Girl Summer. It’s everything that she misses in the regular shops at the moment. Lovaeij’s SS22 collection is colourful, sexy and is here to make any body shine. The collection offers body-hugging mesh silhouettes, short skirts, crop tops and puff sleeves.
Lotte designed a wrap, named after her star sign Pisces for example. It is basedΒ to her first design in which, as a girl, she felt beautiful and comfortable. The ‘A Pisces’ wrap top translates this feeling into its versatility. The top can be wrapped and compliments all sexy curves. The piece can also be tied, as if it’s a present waiting to be opened.
Tops like Lovaeij’s ‘Burn Your Bra’ are designed with a big middle finger to the patriarchy. It’s meant to be worn without a bra so to claim the space the owner deserves.Β The ‘Dinner’ skirt makes the oen wearing it a real snack. A beauty with ruffles is made of stretchy material in a design that is flattering for any body. The ‘Unwrap Me Dress’ is an classic design by Lovaeij. It will always be a favourite. In this new collection, the Unwrap Me Dress is available in a shorter version in two styles: ‘Ocean Dreams’ and ‘Delusional Girl’. The dress is made of polyester elastane, which is more suitable for warm weather.
