Duncan Laurence opens Pink Saturday

Duncan Laurence opens Pink Saturday

This year, Pink Saturday will take place on 18 June in Rotterdam and is part of Pride Week. During the free event at the Coolsingel Duncan Laurence will kick off the festival with an opening concert.

The Rotterdam Pride Foundation, the organisation behind the 2022 edition of Pink Saturday, is very pleased with Laurence’s commitment. The singer enjoyed worldwide success after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019 with his platinum single ‘Arcade’. He has since released several successful singles and a successful album as well as touring internationally.

Bey Cil, chairman of Rotterdam Pride: “Duncan Laurence is a dream headliner for us. Given his personal link with the city of Rotterdam and the Eurovision Song Contest. In addition, he is a role model for many  LGBTIQA+young and old people from Rotterdam and its neighbouring cities. We are very much looking forward to welcoming him to such an iconic place as Coolsingel.”

The organisation also announced the queer hip hop act LIONSTORM. This female rap duo from Amsterdam, consisting of Vuige Muis and Skerrie Sterrie, was previously featured in the Rotterdam Pride conference program. The rap formation is known for its absurdist and provocative queer rap with tracks like ‘No H8tro’ and ‘WTJMDZ’, with the ultimate goal to create more unity.

The Pink Saturday will take place on Saturday 18 June, on the Coolsingel in Rotterdam during the Rotterdam Pride week 17-26 June 2022. Roze Zaterdag is the oldest Queer event in The Netherlands with an activist character.
