De Dépendance discusses Climate Politics

De Dépendance is a platform for city culture and public debate. It initiates public programs with international speakers who engage with today’s major urban issues. Monday, April 25, the latest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will be discussed at BlueCity.

According to the latest report by IPCC the world can still hope to stave off the worst ravages of climate breakdown. But only through an ultimate dash to a low-carbon economy and society. It is in effect a final warning for governments on the climate.

IPCC Lead Author Heleen de Coninck will lead the debate. Professor of Environment and Development in the Global South, Joyeeta Gupta, and Derk Loorbach are guests. Derk Loorbach is director of DRIFT (Dutch Research Institute for Transitions) and Professor of Socio-economic Transitions at the Faculty of Social Science. Both at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is also chief curator of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam 2022 and academic lead of the Design Impact Transition platform. Together they navigate through the latest climate science and what it should mean for our climate policies.

The English spoken meeting by De Dépendance starts at 8 PM. Tickets can be bought here.
