Conny Janssen Danst will travel with the Parade this summer

This year, Conny Janssen Danst will be on the programme of the travelling theatre festival de Parade with two performances. In Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht, the public can be surprised by two performances by the Rotterdam modern dance company between 25 June and 22 August 2025: Bite the Bullet and Slipping Under.

Conny Janssen Danst and de Parade share a long tradition: the Parade site has felt like a second home to the company since 2003. The only travelling theatre festival in the world invites experimentation and surprise, and Conny Janssen Danst likes to step off the beaten track. Whether it’s a theatre, a tram depot or a factory hall, Conny Janssen proves time and again that locations can be transformed into a dance paradise. For the 35th edition of de Parade, the artistic director has selected the work of two young makers.

Slipping Under was developed by choreographer Niek Wagenaar during a residency at HUIS Conny Janssen Danst. In this intense duet, power relations within a relationship are made tangible. Close to the skin of dancers Thomas Fauc and Mariko Shimod, the audience sees how dependency, desire and restriction become intertwined. A dance full of tension, surrender and the urge not to go under.

In Bite the Bullet by up-and-coming choreographer Dalton Jansen, seven dancers from Conny Janssen Danst bring a compelling combination of hip hop and modern dance. The performance was created for the second edition of development project NEXT and is raw, urgent and full of energy. In times of polarization, this compelling group piece with a strong bite searches for connection and hope.

Both performances can be seen at the Parade 2025:
25 to 29 June in Rotterdam (Museumpark),
4 to 8 July in The Hague (Westbroekpark),
19 to 22 August in Utrecht (Moreelsepark).
