Black Smoke restaurant

Black Smoke

The king of the barbecue, Jord Althuizen, and captain of liquids, Kasper Stuart, have teamed up and transformed an old fire station at the monumental Van Nelle Factory on the Delfshaven Schie into a ‘blistering hot’ barbecue restaurant with a giant dining bar. Order Latin-inspired bar snacks (from the Argentinian grill, African braai or Japanese yakitori grill) washed down with a special craft beer.

Tip: try the Bourbon Barrel-aged Imperial Stout. There are also cocktails, such as the Suffering Bastard (for those suffering from a hangover), or the Dirty Smoke Martini (dry vermouth, Bombay Sapphire gin and a few drops of charcoal oil). Emerging from the open-fire kitchen are both low & slow and hot & fast classics such as spareribs, brisket, pulled pork, burgers and a selection of premium steaks. There’s also ‘slow smoked chicken lollipops’. Vegetarians need not fear. Try the ‘where is the fucking beef’: a leek baked in the wood oven and served with green pea and broad bean falafels, and a smoked feta, pistachio and mint crumble.
