Freedom Crackers and Mocktails
Imagine: it is 1945. The German occupiers are gone, and all over the Netherlands people are celebrating liberation. Streets full of dancing people, flags, music and an endless party atmosphere. At Museum Rotterdam we bring back that energy, 80 years later. Swing along to freedom crackers and enjoy our special alcohol FREEDOM mocktails. Leave your own message about freedom in the museum – or take it with you into the city. Who knows, you might inspire others during your Museum Night trip.
Freedom is valuable
In addition to partying, you can also take a moment to reflect on what freedom means at Museum Rotterdam. Dive into the history of Rotterdam, before and after the bombing of 1940. After our impressive experience and personal war stories, you will realize how important it is to cherish your freedom. But also that Rotterdammers have the power to rebuild their city together. The perfect moment to realize why freedom is so valuable.
Museum Rotterdam
Museum Rotterdam currently has one location that is open to the public and education: Museum Rotterdam ’40-’45 NU at the Coolhaven. Here everything revolves around the Second World War and the bombing of May 1940. At the same time, the museum is working on visibility in the city by, among other things, lending pieces from the collection, educational programs, lectures, city walks and presentations.
Museum Rotterdam is currently working hard on the development of a new city museum. A place where Rotterdam’s heritage is preserved, shared and brought to life and that inspires and connects people. Together with the municipality of Rotterdam, a permanent location is being sought to establish the new museum.
