Eastern Neighbors Film Festival brings Celts to KINO

For the last 14 years, the Eastern Neighbors Film Festival has been bringing the latest cinema from Eastern and Southeastern Europe to the Dutch audience. The festival is held at Filmhuis Den Haag, but the festival also visits different cities across the country with special On Tour screenings with English subtitles.

On October 19 ENFF will screen one of the most acclaimed Serbian films of the last decade at KINO. Celts is directed by young filmmaker Milica Tomovic. Since its world premiere in the Panorama section of the Berlinale last year, Tomovic has received many accolades for her first feature movie, including the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Director.

Through the depiction of the everyday life of an ordinary family and their friends, Celts skillfully reflects the downfall of society during the turbulent year of 1993 in Belgrade. When Marijana throws a costume party for her daughter’s 8th birthday, family and fellow parents grab the rare opportunity to open a few bottles and enjoy their reunion. Marijana suddenly realizes that she longs for more than a bunch of drunken guests and an inattentive husband, so she sets out to discover the thrills the night has to offer.

This event by the Eastern Neighbors Film Festival will include the visit of a special guest, actor Jovan Belobrkovic, and a mini cocktail party for the visitors.
